DD Backup

Hi All,

I am taking a dd backup on DDS-3 DAT Tape of a raw veritas file system of 18 GB Size.OS Version is Solaris 8.The tape is 40GB compressed.(HP Surestore DAT 40)

The command i use is:
root at prodtest # dd if=/dev/vx/rdsk/abtest/vol10 of=/dev/rmt/0c
dd: unexpected short write, wrote 0 bytes, expected 512
21791684+0 records in
21791684+0 records out
root at prodtest #


I need a dd backup and only dd!
So kindly advice where i am going wrong or what syntax should i change in order to get a successful backup.
