Help on serial port

When i type command:
MTNet:a8610> tip /dev/term/a
tip: unknown host /dev/term/a
Am getting this error message? The same error message goes for /dev/term/a,
/dev/cua/a and /dev/term/a.
I just want to know how do i bring back the default settings as i had
happened to change the permissions of these folders while trying to
configure a modem and i think thats the reason these ports aren't working.
Please help out if possible.
