Tape Drive on Ultra60

2007-12-25 11:03:00

Thnaks to all that responded... namely..

John Cosimano, Mike Salehi, David Foster, Sean Quaint and Jim Taylor.

You suggested that I should go to the OK prompt and see if the device could

be seen at the Open Boot Prompt.

It couldn't, and after doing a probe-scsi-all, I brought the system up and

did a

#drvconfig;devlinks;tapes

after which I still couldn't see it..

Then someone told me that since it was attached to the motherboards SCSI

adapter, it should have a single-ended SCSI terminator on it, and I had a

differential SCSI terminator on it..

I removed the diffential terminator, and since the tape was the only

external device on the chain, I was able to see the tape device using

# mt -f /dev/rmt/0n status.

It was a DDS2 Unipack 4 Gb to 8 Gb tape, by the way..

Thanks to all who responded..
