2.7 x86 recommended kernel patch

I recently installed the latest 2.7 x86 recommended patch bundles and
adding the (I hope I've got the patch no right, the version no is correct)
10542-16 kernel patch, I then saw a msg (then and at each login, even
ordinary user logins) saying the 10542-16 temporary kernel patch was in
place and needed to be backed out before any further patches were
installed. patchk.pl said v16 was the latest and nothing in its docs said
anything about temporary ... any hints?
