2: SunPCi Upgrade

2007-12-25 11:25:00

Original question:

I have some "old" SunPCi cards with the 300Mhz processors. Is there any

way to upgrade the processor on this card?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally received a response from Wieland Stübinger that has all the

info I need. It's in German, but still readable.

After talking to him on the phone, I have a pretty good understanding of

the tables below.

He tried various jumper settings and came up with the following tables.

JP4 is the set of jumpers located next to the CPU. It specifies the clock

multiplier.

JP1-3 is located next to the DIMM slots. These jumpers set the clock

frequency. If you look at the table below, you can see that the frequency

seems to depend on the multiplier.

Anyway, it looks like you should be able to change out the 300Mhz CPU for

a 400Mhz CPU by just changing the multiplier from 4.5 to 6. I'll give it

a try and post results.

Thanks Wieland and good luck in Singapore.
