Problems mounting NFS partitions on dataless sparc 2

2007-12-25 7:45:00

Dear all

Yesterday I posted the following request :

Hello folks,

I am having a tremendous time trying to do a very routine job on a couple of

new sparc 2's. I am trying to mount two partitions on the clients from an

NFS server (4/490 SunOS 4.1.2) I am using the correct partition names, the clients are in the exports file but I still get :

mount access denied for sn4902

mount giving up on /home/artist3

(where sn4902 is the server and artist3 is one of the partitions in question)

I have tried using netgroups to get this to work but it has made no difference

I have even tried chopping the netgroups into smaller chunks in case there is

a problem with netgroup sizes, but still no joy. I have even remade the exports

file by re-typing all entries.

Any ideas?

PS. The clients are dataless running 4.1.2, I have many other clients identically configured but they all work fine and I can't replicate the fault.

Thanks in anticipation of lots of good advice!

Have you tried rpc.mountd .................

It seems that the rpc.mountd running on the nfs server had hung, by killing it

off and starting it again I managed to clear the problem and the client could

mount all the partitions it needed.
