Sending Mail

Am trying to configure a solaris8 machine to send mail as a client to
another mail server using the unix command mail. Anyone with ideas on where
I can get documentation on how to configure this. I am basically stuck at
the point where I tell the sun box which server to forward all mail to. I
am not planning to use sendmail. Is this possible. Thanks
