Sending Page Via Modem

I have a modem connected to a serial line and I use it
to send notification pages from my Solaris 7 server when
an event that needs attention happens (file system over 94%,
network card down, ...).
I am using sendpage as software for sending pages.
Since I have only one modem it happened that this one was down
couple of times and we missed the notifications.
Is it possible to connect a pool of modems instead of a single one?
I am looking to have some redundancy for the modem or more
control of the operation.
Or if you have a better solution that I could use?
