IBM vs. STK Tape Libraries
2007-12-24 19:58:00
with the Storagetek library, a mixed media installation with LTO and
DLT8000. Another evaulation is and IBM 3583 vs. STK L80.
The hardware seems fairly competitive, and the only difference may be that
the IBM 3584 is overkill for our 4 - 5 TB of data. I have heard though,
that the LTO drive can be "flaky".
Anyone have any experience with either vendor/library? We will be using
Veritas NetBackup on a Solaris 8 4x4 E450 in a SAN with mostly Solaris 8 and
NT2000 servers (< 25 total clients).
Thanks in advance for sharing.
