SUMMARY: Binary Compatibility Libraries

2007-12-24 20:57:00

No binary compatiblity libraries are necessary between Solaris 2.6 and
Solaris 7. The only binary compatiblity libraries are for the older
Solaris 1.1.x (aka SunOS 4.1.x), these are necessary because the older
release was a BSD based system and Solaris 2.x is SVR4.

Applications compiled under 2.6 should have no problems running in
Solaris 7.

To find out what binary compatibility libraries are installed on your
system:
pkginfo | grep -i comp
The output should be similar to the following:

sys_prompt% pkginfo | grep -i binary
system SUNWbcp SunOS 4.x Binary Compatibility
system SUNWowbcp OpenWindows binary compatibility
system SUNWscbcp SPARCompilers Binary Compatibility Libraries
sys_prompt%
