OT: Instant Messaging software.

Pardon the Off-Topic post. I was hoping to learn from your experiences.
At work we need some kind of Instant Messaging software. We would prefer
it NOT to be "GUI" like MSN messenger/AOL, yahoo etc.
Right now, we use Zephyr from MIT.
Which is like the "write" in Unix, instead called zwrite.
A daemon needs to be running on the machine, and a client needs to be
started either from .xinitrc or dtprofile.
It works well, i was just wondering what other people were doing for their
IM solutions.
Email is great, but is not the best solutions for sending short one liners
that i have one liner replies(in my opinion atleast)
