lost console access after installing graphics card in E450

After installing a graphics card and a monitor into our E450, I seem to have
lost console access via our serial port. Has anyone else experienced this
problem? Unfortunately, the system is located at a remote site, so I don't
have access to pull out the graphics card and fully confirm that it's the
addition of the card and not coincidentally just a serial port that went bad.
