NFSv3 problem Solaris 7 <-> Tru64 5.x
2007-12-24 19:24:00
since we upgraded our Solaris 7 NFS servers to latest patchlevel (at this
time: kernel 106541-12, rpcmod 108451-05, nfsd 109744-01) and some of the
clients to Tru64 Unix 5.0A (PK2) in November 2000, we are faced with NFS
problems that only occur between these two platforms. On the servers we get
Nov 19 13:36:32 foo rpcmod: [ID 959652 kern.notice] xdrmblk_getmblk failed
Nov 19 13:36:32 foo nfssrv: [ID 444088 kern.notice] NOTICE: nfs_server: bad
getargs for 3/7
while the Tru64 Unix clients suffer from degraded NFS performance.
This happens for both v3/tcp and v3/udp under high load. v2/udp seems
to work, but is a performance degradation by itself.
The Solaris Common Messages and Troubleshooting Guide suspects a NFS
client bug (http://docs.sun.com/ab2/coll.47.11/TROUBLESHOOT/@Ab2PageView/9711).
However, there are some Sun bug reports about similar problems, unfortunately
only for Solaris 2.5.1 and earlier: 4074224 (2000-03-14, Solaris 2.5.1,
"closed"), 1234755 (1996-11-23, Solaris 2.4, "closed"), 1149389 (1995-10-20,
Solaris 2.3, "integrated") and a corresponding note in infodoc/11987.
Has anyone seen this before? As we have to solve this ASAP, any help will
be highly appreciated.
TIA and IWS,
Thomas
