Soltice PPP and Connect String Problem

does anybody know how i can get the connectionrate. I use Soltice PPP with
a Sparc5 and a 56k Modem (nail on 33600). The logfile offers me a connect,
but he doesn't say with witch connection speed the connection be made.
I turn some special flag on my modem on, it's now reporting witch carrier
and protocol used for this connection. but the relevant information is not
the carrier (carrier is the host <-> modem speed). i need the connection
speed (modem <-> nas). The log ist only say : "connect" --- year.
some hints ?
