NIS ->solaris /etc/passwd vs hpux /etc/passwd

My task is to implement NIS on Sun Solaris and HPux 9000 boxes.

The first step or at least one the first , is to have all uid;s the same
across all platforms.

The first part of my confusion is that the Sun Solaris boxes start user
accounts at 1000. (y/n) Hpux 11:v users accounts start at 100.

I plan to make Sun Solaris the master and HP box a slave.

questions
1) Does Solaris uids under 1000 effect any performance ?

2) If i mv all uids under 1000, why does the solaris box issue a new user
UID number in the 1000's while the rest of the UID's are in the 100's ?

3)Is HPUX and solaris due-able togehter in NIS ?

4) FI so what shceme or sequnce do I use to to uniform the UID's across
across all the platforms (HPUX & Solaris)?
